Throughout this semester you will be exposed to many different processes and/or diagnoses.
As a new nurse you will use your cognitive skills to critically think about the care of your patient. When you think critically you look at a situation and evaluate its effectiveness.
You will need to reflect, ask questions, research, observe and evaluate.
This project’s goal is to make you look at processes and/or diagnoses in your clinical setting and think of ways to either improve it or support it. You may have to be creative in your improvement and/or clarify to support it. Note any challenges that you may encounter. What kinds of nursing interventions would you implement? This project can either be population based, system or patient focus.
You have an option of selecting:
· a quality improvement issue
· a leadership role (cost effectiveness)
· safety and/or outcomes regarding your patient
· literature review regarding an organizational policy or procedure
· Health risks of the population on your unit/organization (compared to Healthy People 2020 objectives)
