This hobby partially relies on the incompetence of financial institutions in enforcing stated terms and conditions around welcome bonus eligibility.
When you contact the financial institution in regards to a missing bonus that you were ineligible for, you risk no longer being eligible for any subsequent bonuses. In addition, this can potentially cause undesired effects across our hobby, including bonus clawbacks, blacklisting, or other forms of crackdown.
While not receiving an annual fee waiver, an offer credit or a welcome bonus is not ideal, it is pertinent to consider the potential 'domino effect' of your actions.

If you fail to meet the minimum spend for a card, you cannot get a second chance*
This applies to both personal and small business products. Each card is its separate product, and you have one chance for each.

You cannot have held an HSBC World Elite Mastercard in the 12 months prior to submitting your application.
You also cannot get any welcome offer by switching your credit card.

You are not eligible for any credit card welcome bonus if you are an existing cardholder of a Scotiabank Consumer Credit Card, or if you have held a card in the last 24 months.

Additional Application Terms and Conditions:
Amex: Cannot apply for business Gold and business Platinum cards within a 90 day period. Doing so will cause Amex to reject the second application as a "duplicate" as they are considered the same product on the back end for the purposes of new applications.
Aeroplan Terms: Note that as of December 19th, 2022, the terms and conditions of the Aeroplan program stipulate that holding more than one Aeroplan Credit Card of any tier or at the same bank may constitute a violation of their policy.
As of July 2023, based on user datapoints, having had more than three welcome bonuses since the policy change may result in a firm warning and no points taken back.
