This isn't your typical men's group! Sure, we discuss how to be good husbands, fathers and men in general. But there's one thing that all of us have in common--we've been "burned" by the church. Why is that? Well, the first question of the Heidelberg Catechism helps us out:
Q: What is your only comfort in life and in death?
A: That I am not my own...
Yes, the whole foundation of being a good man is to live for the one who bought you with His precious blood. When we stop living for ourselves and live for Christ, we act differently. We treat others better. We discover what it means to be true. Why has the church burned us? It hasn't. Individuals in the church have, because many are still their own. It's the American way.
