Sunday 29 March 2026 - 11am Palm Sunday Service with Baptism, Confirmation and Communion led by Bishop Moira
Sixth Sunday of Lent
Readings for Palm Sunday
The first reading is from Paul’s letter to the Philippians, chapter 2 Verses 5-11
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
The Gospel reading is from the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 21, verses 1-11.
As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
4 This took place to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See, your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”[a]
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[c]
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

A message from Gareth, Hannah and Lila
We would like to send a huge Thank You to everyone who contributed to Lila and Gareth's Christening. To Wendy and everyone who helped set up such a welcoming display, to The Little Big Band for their joyful music (which all the children in particular thoroughly enjoyed dancing to!), to Maureen and the team for serving drinks and cake, to Gwenllian for taking some great photos and of course to everyone who turned up to help us celebrate and also those who couldn't make it but sent their wishes. We received so many lovely cards. It was such a wonderful day full of love and support.
With love,
Gareth, Hannah and Lila
