I received my B.S. degree from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, my M.S. degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and my Ph.D. degree from Texas A&M University in 2009, 2012, and 2018, respectively, all in Electrical Engineering. In 2007, I was awarded a full scholarship from the Ministry of Education (Taiwan) to attend a one-year exchange program at the University of New Mexico. During my academic career, I also completed summer internships with MediaTek in 2013, 2015, and 2016. I am currently a Senior Staff Engineer at Qualcomm, where my work focuses on image processing and computer vision for embedded camera systems.
I am a machine learning technical lead specializing in computer vision, on-device AI, and always-sensing camera intelligence. I’ve led multiple end-to-end ML features—including face detection, QR code scanning, hand-gesture recognition, scene-change detection, and next-generation sensing features—driving significant improvements in accuracy, performance, and power efficiency. I enjoy tackling complex challenges across the full stack, from dataset design and model development to quantization and deployment on real-world products.
I stay actively engaged with the research community as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT) and as a reviewer for top AI and vision venues including CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, TPAMI, TIP, and TMM. I also collaborate with universities, mentor interns and student researchers, and help bridge academic innovation with practical, product-oriented engineering.
I’m known for clear communication and cross-functional leadership—aligning firmware, system, XR, CV, and program teams across global sites through structured updates, stakeholder discussions, and coordinated execution. I’m committed to developing others and building strong teams, supported by completing Qualcomm MQW (Managing Qualcomm Way) leadership training and pursuing an Executive MBA at UCLA Anderson.
I’m passionate about impactful innovation and have contributed IDFs related to small-object detection, few-shot learning, and open-vocabulary segmentation. I focus on delivering scalable, customer-centric solutions by combining deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and disciplined execution across multiple initiatives.
