Jewish music originated around 3000 years ago, in early Israel. it started out as prayer chants, in an area known today, as the Levant, an area of land that stretches from Southern Turkey to North-Western Egypt for about 500 miles or 800km, and about 93 miles (150km), East to West.

Between the years 200 and 300 CE, Jews from across the Mediterranean started to immigrate to what is now modern day Hungary. They were at first merchants from Rome, and slaves from Israel.

Almost 370 years ago, in around 1650 the first Jewish settlers landed in the New York. They were 'Sephardic Jews', these were Jews that fled from Spain. They, and other Jewish groups made a big impact on the city of New York, helping build the industries there.
