FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“The Roar of L’Amour” Returns: Chuck Kaye Launches Digital Tribute to Brooklyn’s Iconic Rock Capital
BROOKLYN, NY – February 9, 2026 – Chuck Kaye, the legendary voice known to a generation of metalheads as “The Roar of L’Amour,” has officially launched www.TheRoarofLamour.com, a definitive digital archive dedicated to the golden era of Brooklyn’s most famous rock venue.
As featured today on Spectrum News NY1, Kaye is opening his personal vaults to share the "true stories" of the L'Amour metal scene. Serving as the house DJ, VJ, and MC from 1984 to 1988—the club's undisputed heyday—Kaye was the "conduit" between the venue and the burgeoning thrash and heavy metal movements.
A Legacy of Loud
During his tenure, Kaye presided over world-premiere events for some of the biggest names in music history, including:
Metallica: Hosting the highly anticipated world premiere of …And Justice for All.
Iron Maiden: Welcoming the band for a legendary secret show under the pseudonym "Charlotte and the Harlots".
White Lion: It was lead singer Mike Tramp who first dubbed Kaye “The Roar of L’Amour” in 1987 after hearing his commanding presence on the microphone.
Preserving Rock History
Through the new website and his active presence on Facebook, Kaye provides a behind-the-scenes look at the excess, the energy, and the legendary performances by acts like Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Guns N' Roses. The platform serves not only as a memoir but as a tribute to a venue that Kaye believes is not as "revered as it should be" in the annals of New York music history.
"L'Amour was an institution, and Chuck was the heart and soul of it," says John Connolly of Nuclear Assault.
Despite currently battling a severe heart condition, Kaye remains dedicated to documenting the era where Brooklyn stood as the "Rock Capital of the World".

About Chuck Kaye:
Nicknamed "The Roar of L’Amour" by (multi-platinum recording artist) White Lion's Mike Tramp, Chuck Kaye was the voice of Brooklyn metal for over four years during the heart of the hard rock and heavy metal explosion. A veteran guest of 92.3 WXRK (K-Rock) and WSOU, as well as multiple magazines and industry trade outlets, his influence bridged the gap between underground thrash and mainstream rock.
