FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“The Roar of L’Amour” Returns: CREEM Magazine Features a Retrospective on Legendary DJ Chuck Kaye of L'Amour - The Hard Rock and Metal Epicenter
DETROIT, MI – This summer, CREEM Magazine, "America’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll Magazine," turns its high-octane lens toward the "Rock Capital of Brooklyn" with an exclusive 12-page feature on the man who defined an era of heavy metal: DJ Chuck Kaye, famously known as “The Roar of L’Amour.”
The extensive article, appearing in the Summer 2026 print issue, chronicles Kaye’s explosive four-year run from 1984 to 1988 at the legendary Brooklyn venue, L’Amour. Known for his commanding microphone presence and aggressive personality—a style that earned him his nickname from Mike Tramp of White Lion—Kaye served as the club’s house DJ, VJ, MC, and primary conduit for the 1980s metal scene.
The 12-page deep dive features:
Untold Stories from the Metal Epicenter: Kaye shares firsthand accounts of being "the voice" of a scene.
Behind-the-Scenes Madness: A raw look at the "49 months of the biggest era in metal history.".
The "Mr. Personality" Legacy: Reflecting on Kaye’s influence as the voice "the kids related to," a reputation cemented during his time on various airwaves and magazines.
"L’Amour's story is bigger than mine," says Kaye. "But after decades of silence, it’s time to tell the truth about the heart of that run".
The feature coincides with the recent launch of Kaye's digital archive, TheRoarofLamour.com, dedicated to preserving the history of his era.
The Summer Issue of CREEM is available as part of the magazine’s premium quarterly print subscription. Readers can also access the feature and over 50 years of rock history via the CREEM Digital Archive.
About CREEM Entertainment:Founded in 1969 in Detroit, CREEM grew from an underground paper into a national powerhouse, shaping music journalism for two decades. After a 33-year hiatus, it returned in 2022 as a premium print quarterly led by Chairman JJ Kramer and CEO John Martin.
