Looking back to the very beginning of the program, I had listed as my two goals, 1) transitions and 2) authenticity. Now, at the very end of the program, I feel confident that I have succeeded in achieving both goals. That does not necessarily mean I have achieved mastery, but rather, I have a much greater awareness of both goals while performing lesson planning. For example, with regard to authentic materials, emphasizing whether or not a particular material would naturally occur within an authentic setting. For another example, for transitioning, I learned better how to question whether learning tasks and episodes are related, to ensure a smooth learning flow from one idea to the next. From one of the critique sessions, I furthermore learned of the phrase, “let go 放手”, and the need to gradually release responsibility to students in order to push for more output. Overall, for what I was hoping to achieve, the program has exceeded my expectations. I feel confident in returning to school with a renewed sense of purpose, a renewed outlook on how to better design my lessons.
