The Sharks welcomed a new head football coach in February. After coach Reginald Scott resigned, Mr. Loren White was announced as the new program lead.
White was the varsity coach of Brentsville High School’s team last season. He led Brentsville to its best run in school history, and the team received three region titles under White’s tenure.
White said he decided to switch because he saw potential within the team and felt excited to build something special.
“We will focus on improving physical conditioning, enhancing football IQ, and building chemistry,” White said. “Off the field, I plan to create an environment where each player feels supported and motivated.”
White said during the upcoming fall season, he wants to ensure the team is physically conditioned and enhance each player's IQ on the field. He said there will be changes to both the offense and defense that reflect the team's strength and ensure each play is up to their full potential.
“My primary goal is to lay a solid foundation for long-term success,” White said. “That includes developing a high level of discipline, improving team dynamics, and establishing a culture where players are committed to their personal and collective development.”. He said he wants players to grow while enjoying their time on the team.
Returning players are growing excited, as they look forward to the changes under White’s new leadership.
“I think he’ll change us for the good," said George Hall ‘26. “I think that we're going to win more games this year and that there's a lot more like positive energy for us.” Hall said after the announcement was made about White, it brought in more kids to off season conditioning.
“My first impression of him was that he was good,” said Justin Musselman ‘26. “He said he had a lot of changes for the team which I like because I think he’ll turn the program around.”
Both Hall and Musselman agree that they would like to make it to playoffs, a feat never accomplished in the school’s 9-year history.
“My expectations for the team this year are high,” White said. “I expect the players to embrace the challenges ahead, stay disciplined, and work together as a cohesive unit. I want to see growth every day, both in terms of skills and character. Ultimately, we want to be competitive, and I expect the team to give its best effort in every game.”
White says he believes commitment will be the core of the program this coming season, this involves players and himself.
“Ultimately, I want Colgan football to be known for its toughness, unity, and relentless pursuit of excellence,” White said.
