From February 12 through 15, Colgan Theatre premiered “Argonautika”. The play is about a Greek myth about Jason and the Argonauts where Jason leads a crew of heroes on a journey to retrieve the Golden Fleece, while encountering mythical creatures and facing many challenges along the way. Due to the large number of snow days during the last few days of January, there were worries about not doing the show at all, because of the decreased amount of time the production crew had to work on the play.
“We worked hard creating the pieces for the show,” said Alayna McGull ’27, who is a member of the construction tech team. “They turned out better than I thought. I was a little nervous about how it was going to look on opening night, but I was told it looked great.”
Claire Sproule ‘27 agreed with McGull.
“I was also a bit worried about how the set was going to look, because we had less time to work since it snowed so much in a couple weeks,” said Sproule.
Despite all of the delays in production for the show and an extra snow day on dress rehearsal day, the production opened on time.
“I really enjoyed the show,” said Kayden Matthews ‘25. “Our theatre class is good at what they do. I don’t usually go to the plays because I think they’re boring, but I thought it was going to be interesting from the weird name, and I was right.”
After the delays and the hesitation on whether the show was going to see light, it ended up going well and has had overall good reviews from students.
