As only a freshman, Amiyah Daniels has already made an impression on the track team. Daniels has found her passion for athletics unexpectedly while competing in the 100m 4x200 relay, and high jump events.
“I started running track in seventh grade because I was bored and wanted something new to do,” she recalls.
Daniels would never have guessed how much she would come to love and appreciate track and that it would become her favorite thing and something she would be very enthusiastic about. What initially interested her in the fast-paced sport was the competition and the opportunity it provided in keeping her body conditioned.
Although Daniels believes that physical fitness plays a crucial role in her daily routine, motivation and self-discipline is just as important. Each practice and meet helps her develop not only her skills but also self-confidence. Daniels gives credit of her success to her coach, who saw potential from the very beginning.
“She told me that I could do it and that she believed in me,” she remembers fondly.
It was this encouragement that sparked a fire in her that will only grow over time, as it pushes her to aim higher with each event. Her passion is not only fueled by personal ambition; Daniels appreciates and embraces the support of her team.
“We all cheer each other on and celebrate with one another,” she explained.
Daniels dedication is evident during the difficult track meets. Whether she is sprinting down the track or perfecting her high jump technique, she approaches every event with determination and focus.
As she approaches and prepares for the new season, Daniels has elevated expectations of breaking new records and contributing to her team’s success. With her determination, passion, and the unwavering support from her team and coach, Amiyah Daniels journey in track is just beginning and there’s no telling what the future will hold.
