“Shark attack” is an annual senior competition to win a free ticket to prom. Last year’s shark attack ended with 7 people who made it to the end, and the winner was drawn from a hat. The challenges over the years have included: dressing up as a minion, carrying empty pizza, Krispy Kreme boxes, or holding the hands of two freshmen students while going from class to class.
Every year, they have a fresh, new, creative set of challenges waiting for those who choose to take part. The game goes as follows, someone who is taking part in shark attack is given a specific target to tag out of the game during “immunity”, (challenge of that day). This will continue until there are only a few participants left in the game, or by the time prom comes around.
“Even though the event is really interesting, I don’t think I’ll be participating this year,” said Kayden Matthews ‘25. “But it was really funny watching the seniors walking around with the weirdest things.”
“I’m definitely going to do it because I want to dress up and have fun for my last year here. I also just want a free prom ticket.” Said Azarya Pratt ‘25.
Shark attack has been a running tradition at Colgan since the first senior class in 2018. It has brought many smiles, and lots of fun to the seniors, as it is one of the last events they get to take part in before they graduate and start new adventures.
