In the shark tank’s marching band, there is the color guard team. They are made up of 11 members, and there is one color guard that stood out the most from the rest.
Alex Stevenson ‘27 is the only male color guard for the shark tank. This is his second year and season as a color guard for the sharks. This November marked his one-year anniversary as a member of the color guard.
“It doesn’t really matter who you are, in my opinion,” Said Stevonson. “We are all members of a team and that’s what matters most.”
Stevenson said that he started out as a winter guard, which is the indoor version of color guard, and that one of his friends in middle school encouraged him to join color guard.
“My friend was one of the captains for color guard of my school at the time, and they pestered me until I did it,” said Stevenson. “ And I finally complied when went to one of the football games and decided to do it.”
He said it took a bit of adjusting to get used to color guard rather than winter guard, ut with recorded music rather than a live band. “It comes as second nature [and] it is not as stressful, but it is time consuming.”
He’s a really nice funny guy, and he definitely is hardworking,” said Mia Smith of her teammate.
Stevenson encourages people to join color guard, to learn cool skills, make new friends, and have new experiences.
Stevenson said that he loves the sport and that being a member of the color guard is enjoyable for him. He said that he believes that this season has gone well and will end on a good note. Stevenson also stated that he can see the potential for the seasons ahead.
