As the 2024 football season kicks off, Colgan received two excellent from Forest Park, who are not only related, but identical twins who share the same team, friends and support system.
Juniors Tyler and Justin Musselman joined Colgan’s football team this summer. Last year the duo played together for Forest Park. The two also play on the same travel team outside of high school. The twins agreed how Colgan was a bigger school and have been quickly adjusting to the new team.
“I would say it’s different because we do a lot of team things, you know more high pace,” Tyler said. “We do more contact drills, and we go over plays a lot make sure we get it right, we make sure we’re healthy and conditioned, overall, definitely a lot better.”
Both brothers are wide receivers. Tyler said he recently switched to the position after playing quarterback for many years. Justin also plays Safety for the Sharks.
"I’m really on him [his brother] a lot more, just, like it's what we want to do in life.” Tyler said, “we want to make it to the next level, we want to be the best you know, so on the field I'm definitely on him more like, like you got to do this and that, 100 percent, all the time.” Tyler believes that although he is more competitive with his twin brother compared to others on the team, it is all out of love and wanting to see him succeed. Over the years they have formed strong chemistry both on and off the field.
“We’re the same person, we have the same skills,” Justin said. “We’ve learned each other's play style, from all the time spent together.”
“It’s good on the football field because we can understand each other without even saying anything.” Tyler agreed.
While the brothers constantly argue about football, even at home, they have learned to leave their competitiveness on the football field.
“I'd say it’s competitive between us because we both want to be great, so we have to push each other to be great,” Justin said, “We’re very competitive, but after practice we’re both brothers."
