2024: A New Chapter

As 2023 draws to a close, the new year is just around the corner. Along with it comes the hope for success in the future often manifested through New Year’s Resolutions. Each year, people establish personal goals based on their aspirations. Goals can be used as tools to push further in life. But the end of the year is also an opportunity to reflect. How have students enjoyed their journey over the past twelve months?  

Senior Jennifer Sandoval said, “I’ve been saving up for cosmetology, working hard. Goals have helped my success because it’s a fact on what I’m doing, a vision for later.”  

A survey taken on Colgan students' new year’s resolution revealed that 33% of students have school related goals, 30% hope to improve in athletics, 20% look to break bad habits, 13% for bettering mental health and finally 4% of the examined scholars want to improve their physical health in the new year.  

        “Just get good grades,” remarked Freshman Xavier Cheathan on his main goal for 2024. In addition, he said “Creating goals helps my success because it keeps me motivated.”  

As proven in the survey, most students would like to improve their grades in 2024. A good education can set students up for success in college, ensuring a nice job in adulthood. Education is very important to Colgan, and positive learning is an emphasis. 

Senior Will Stormer said his favorite memory of this year was “Hanging out with my friends around school and at football games.”     

Freshman Jacob Pfitzner said, “The staff here has made memories in my first year at Colgan. A teacher brought in food, and we watched movies.”  

  The Colgan school community creates a joyful environment through school events, culture, and people. They create unforgettable adventures throughout the year. The world has many opportunities and avenues for excellence. Each student takes a unique approach to their success. The next chapter in 2024 could bring the greatest memories and the highest highs.
