Colgan features many fun and exciting after-school events, such as last year's multi-cultural night. On the 27th of October one of those events was the annual Trunk or Treat. Trunk or Treat has been held for two years in a row and Colgan's clubs' group together and hand out candy to kids. With a new year there will also be new improvements made, Chad Cavander one of the assistant principals at Colgan, directed Trunk or Treat.
“We added a maze for the kids to go through and when they go through, they get a pumpkin at the end, we have some more students participating as characters that kids can take photos with, we have a new food truck coming this year from Happy Family Ranch, and we will just have more space for everything” said Cavender
There were many student volunteers from a variety of clubs including the French Honor Society and the Dungeons and Dragons club. Preparations for Trunk or Treat were planned weeks in advance and clubs collected donations of candy, spirit wear and coupons from neighboring businesses.
“First, we started with a meeting, we had an email chain and we talked about the recourses we needed, and where we were going to set it up.” Said Carly Graham, sponsoring the CFPA Student Council Association (SCA)
Although the main attraction at Trunk o’ Treat is walking around the parking lot and greeting each club for a piece of candy, one of most important roles is the people standing at the front and end of the maze and guiding them through the maze.
“I just like seeing all the little kids happy getting their candy, and just helping out” said Alianys Rivera Vazquez.
