Colgan’s music tech program is by far the most overlooked cluster in the program. Filled with talent it provides a gateway to the music industry for young musicians interested in putting their stuff on show for all to see and listen to.
Taking a deeper look into the cluster artist senior Noah Sneed said, “music gives me a way to express myself in a intricate way that allows me to articulate my thoughts in a unique way that turns out beautiful.” The opportunity the cluster provides for young artists is different from other clusters mainly because you learn how to create first and then you have the freedom to fabricate and build your own music.
But what motivates students to step out of there comfort zones and make the step to start their journey through the cluster inspiring their interest in the art of music and producing 12th Noah Sneed said, “I was introduced to music in 6th grade and since then my passion grew and grew and now its lead me to dropping my first single “Silver Springs” in September.”
The dedication artists put into their music and the creativity they possess is like a superpower that brings the cluster together and unites students. 12th Noah Sneed said, “the class has never felt boring or like I have busy work it feels like you can make a mistake and learn and grow as an artist from that mistake and improve because of it.” The togetherness that Colgan brings to students who want to pursue music is special. Colgan welcomes everyone and is a melting pot of talent and expertise.
In and of itself music tech is a very overshadowed cluster with lots of talented students with unique abilities. It is a strength that needs more room to shine. But, there are events that showcase students’ music tech talents such as FinFest where students are allowed to perform their original music and gives students recognition for their work. The cluster is a diamond in the rough in the bubble that is the CFPA program.
