Seniors Natalia Griese and Alayna Irby-Pi made senior jeans and a sign to pose with for a quick shot at senior sunrise. "I loved personalizing my own jeans and a sign to pass around getting pictures with my friends," Irby-Pi said.

Senior Sunrise is such a special tradition for high school seniors. It is when seniors gather early in the morning to watch the sunrise together before starting their last year of high school. It is a time for bonding, reflection, and excitement regarding the year ahead as well as it is a beautiful way to kick off senior year.
“I have always looked forward to participating in this tradition that many of my upper classmen friends took part in with their friends”, Grace Huber ‘24 said.
This year our SCA decided that the senior sunrise was going to be on the first Friday of the school year, which in hindsight ended up upsetting the majority of the senior class. On Friday morning, the weather started out decently, but as the morning went on, the drizzle turned to a downpour. So, most of the students started to pack up and walk back to their cars and leave once there was no sunrise to be found.
“I thought senior sunrise could've been better executed because previous years the event was on the first day of school and on a day which the sky is visible that included food and fun activities,” Jordan Miller ‘24 said.”
Although some students believe there was not much food or catering variety to the sunrise, SCA did partner with Dunkin to give out a free donut before the senior sunrise. While the SCA Instagram account advertised the partnering most students chose to bring their own breakfasts ranging from Chick-fil-A to Starbucks. So even though the senior sunrise had mixed opinions the class of ‘24 made it work and had memorable experiences with their class on that first Friday of senior year!
“The funding came from the senior class with the help of Mr. McDonald the Senior Advisor and SCA worked very closely to help the event go as smoothly as possible,” Vianna Phan SCA member ‘24 said.
