Mrs. Milvia Suarez, Colgan’s lively new math teacher, is here to make an impact. With 12 years of teaching under her belt, Mrs. Suarez is more ready than ever to teach math in her own unique way.
While not every student is comfortable with math, “I love encouraging students to believe in themselves and show them that mathematics can be fun and possible.” said Mrs. Suarez.
Suarez said her goals for the year are to “grow as a professional, [and] have a unique United States teacher experience.”
Suarez attended el Universidad Catolica de Honduras, a Catholic university in her home country of Honduras. It’s her first-year teaching in America, and she’s enthused to be able to impact student’s learning experience positively wherever she goes.
“I enjoy teaching,” Mrs. Saurez said, her smile gleams as she talks about what inspires her love for it, “and being part of the learning process of a kid is amazing.”
In her life, Suarez’s parents presented her with many options and opportunities in life, which ended in encouraging her to pursue math. “My parents exposed me to so many different situations that me love mathematics and made me want to explore more about the area.”
Located in the second math hall, Mrs.Suarez will take on the new school year in a new environment headfirst, achieving the goals she’s set and pushing students to be the very best they can be.
