With every new school year comes quite a few new experiences like new teachers, new class schedules, or even something as simple as a new locker, just to name a few. To most incoming freshmen, the first few days of school and meeting new teachers can seem daunting. To help with this, freshmen orientation is one of the first experiences for new students; but how do the newest members of Colgan feel about freshman orientation?
“It helped me know the area of where my classes were” said freshman Kelly Kern “and [it helped me] get to more around school”
Most incoming students feel very uneasy about meeting new classmates, adjusting to new class schedules, and finding their way around the huge campus.
“It was a bit scary at first...” said Ariana Foreman, “...but everybody was super nice, and I really enjoyed it!”
When you go to freshman orientation you also get to see all the clubs and sports teams that Colgan has to offer. For some, that can be very exciting because you get to meet new people who have the same interests like football, track and field; but for others it could make them anxious and nervous.
“It did help...” said Foreman “...It let me know that I’m not the only one and it helped me calm my nerves”
On the first day of school there are teacher and guidance counselors roaming the hallways helping upperclassmen but also freshmen to find their classes. With their support the newest members of Colgan are set up for success this new school year.
