Linux is an open-source, Unix-like operating system (OS) kernel first released by Linus Torvalds in 1991. It acts as the core, foundational software that manages a computer's hardware resources—CPU, memory, and storage—allowing users to run applications. It is widely used for servers, cloud computing, and Android phones.
It's utility includes programming, physical computing, and much more. Free Open Source Software (FOSS) enables learners around the world considerable latitude with technology considered outdated.
