US Department of Special Education Office of Special Education and Related Services (OSERS)

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)  As the nation's special education law, IDEA serves approximately 6.8 million children and youth with disabilities.  This link will allow you to read the law in it's entirety.

Wrightslaw  Parents, educators, advocates, and attorneys may utilize the Wrightslaw website for accurate, reliable information about special education law, education law, and advocacy for children with disabilities.

Community Health Law Project The Community Health Law Project (CHLP) is a nonprofit advocacy and legal services organization dedicated to serving the needs of low-income people with disabilities in New Jersey.

 

ADVOCACY RESOURCES

New Jersey Division of Family Health Services, Early Intervention System NJEIS under the Division of Family Health Services, implements New Jersey's statewide system of services for infants and toddlers, birth to age three, with developmental delays or disabilities, and their families. The Department of Health and Senior Services is appointed by the Governor as the state lead agency for the Early Intervention System.

NJ Statewide Parents Advocacy Network (NJ SPAN)  The mission of the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network is to empower and support families and inform and involve professionals and others interested in the healthy development and education of children and youth.  NJSPAN provides teleconferences, workshops, training and support.

Association for Special Children & Families  Our goal is to support and educate parents to advocate for their own child with a special need. We are not advocates, but parent consultants who guide and support parents. Parents are their child’s best and most effective advocates.  We give them the tools to do this on their own.

Exceptional Children's Assistance Center  ECAC helps parents navigate the special education system, know their rights, and use their voice. We provide information, support, training and resources to assist families caring for children with special needs from birth to age 26.
