Statistics and Data Resources for Algebra I
Statista Subscription Database: Statistical data across a wide of range of industries including entertainment and sports. Look for the Statistics tab at the top left of the page. From the drop down menu choose the industry you're interested in.
Here is a TUTORIAL: How to download Statista data and convert it to a workable google sheet on a chromebook. (Note: in the example we used a chart on visitors to the Statue of Liberty, the steps work with any chart in Statista)
GapMinder: Free online tool with a wide variety of statistical data.
Sports Reference: Search for sports stats by sport, league, team, player and coach. Includes major leagues and college sports.
Rotowire: Search for professional sports data across a wide variety of sports. Choose the sport you're interested in and then look for the stats tab near the top of the page. Rotowire requires a subscription so there may be some limitations on how much data you can view for free.
NOAA: Search for data on temperature and precipitation for multiple years or months in any state.
US Harbors: Search for any harbor in the US for data on high/low tide, sunrise and sunset times as well as phases of the moon. Use the drop down menus to search for locations. Use the back and forward tabs for dates.
US Climate Data: Data on monthly precipitation and temperatures for any town in NH. Also can search other locations in the US.
US Car Sales: Yearly totals of cars sold in the US.
US Census Data on Retail Industries: Sales data on retail industries such as cars, sporting goods, clothing and food.
Yahoo Finance: Data on stock performance of companies. Use the search bar to put in the company name you're interested in. When the chart of results comes up look for the historical data tab at the top to get date range stock performance.
