Privacy Policy for Chronos
Last updated: October 2026
Chronos ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension dedicated to helping users understand their browsing habits, enhance productivity, and manage web screen time. We are strongly committed to protecting your privacy.
1. 100% Local Data Processing & Storage
Chronos operates entirely on the client side inside your web browser. All browsing time measurements, visited domain hostnames, Pomodoro sessions, custom category configurations, and preferences are stored exclusively on your device using Google Chrome's local storage API (chrome.storage.local).
2. Zero External Data Collection or Transmission
We do NOT collect, transmit, sync, sell, or share any personal information, browsing history, or analytical metrics with any external servers, third-party companies, advertising networks, or analytics providers. Your browsing records never leave your personal computer.
3. Explanation of Chrome Permissions Used
- tabs & activeTab: Required solely to identify the current tab's domain hostname and page title in order to accurately record active browsing duration and pause tracking when switching tabs.
- storage: Used strictly to persist your statistics, categories, and Pomodoro settings locally on your machine.
- alarms: Used to trigger Pomodoro timer countdowns and periodic local storage persistence.
- idle: Used to detect keyboard/mouse inactivity so that time away from your desk is not mistakenly counted as active browsing.
- notifications: Used to deliver visual desktop alerts when Pomodoro focus/break sessions complete, or when site limits are reached.
- Host permissions (http://*/*, https://*/*): Required exclusively to display the compact, draggable floating live timer and optional distraction blocker overlay directly on active pages.
4. Data Retention & Deletion
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it. You can instantly wipe all stored history at any time using the "Hapus Data" button within the Chronos Dashboard, or by uninstalling the extension from your browser.
5. Developer Contact
If you have any questions or feedback regarding this Privacy Policy, please reach out via the Chrome Web Store support tab.
