What is Stroke of Mischief?
Stroke of Mischief is a third-person physics puzzle game.
A thief who breaks into a museum, with newly waxed floors, must putt themselves across, bounce off walls and avoid the guards and security systems in order to steal as many valuable pieces as possible
The project was made for the IGDA Clark December Dash Game Jam, the theme was "off the wall", we received 2nd place.

Game Design
Going into the game jam, the team decided to use it as an opportunity to learn Unreal Engine, it was important for us to quickly learn blueprints and for me to become accustomed to the engine's level design tools. Before beginning development, we expressed interest in making a golf-like physics game, this laid the ground work for our movement system. When I suggested a robber bouncing off of walls to steal art pieces, it fit naturally with the gameplay.
Level Design
When beginning the design, I had three goals for these levels:
Introduce new mechanics
Escalates in difficulty
Ensure ease of asset creation
Each of the 3 levels in the game introduces a new obstacle for the player to navigate. This not only keeps the experience fresh, but also adds to the second goal.
Since the main mechanic for the game is the traversal system, we wanted the difficulty to reflect that as well, so as the game progresses, environments become more confusing to navigate.
Due to the time constraints, my focus was on basic grid-like layouts to make the 3D artists job more manageable and work naturally with the environment I was constructing.
