Christmas traditions in our country 🎄
The 6th of January🎁✨
✮ A strict fast begins 40 days before Christmas, the last day of which falls on Christmas Eve.
✮ January 6 - Holy Evening, the whole family is going to have dinner at the table as soon as the first star, called Bethlehem, appears in the sky.
✮ The top in the form of a star on the Christmas tree is a symbol of the star of Bethlehem, which pointed out to the shepherds the birthplace of the Savior.
✮When the family sits down at the table, father takes a spoon of kutia and pours it on a plate, calls for frost and puts it on the window.
✮ We mustn’t leave the house until the end of the holiday dinner, so as not to let the evil spirit.
✮At Christmas, it is customary to bake a pie with a coin, the one who gets the coin will be very happy in the New Year, especially in terms of money.
✮In the evening children sit down at the table and loud cluck like chickens so that there is always food in the family.
✮One of the oldest family tradition on Christmas Eve is to bring dinner to the godparents after a meal with the family.
✮ Holy evening is also a funeral, so after dinner the food is not completely removed from the table.
The 7th of January🎀
✮On the night before Christmas, both good and evil spirits roam the world, and everyone can choose their path: to celebrate the birth of Christ at the table or to go to the Sabbath to the witches. This night, full of otherworldly spirits, is the best time for divinations that are believed to be the most true. Girls in our country are still divining their fate.
✮ The next morning after Christmas Eve it is customary to greet with the words "Christ is born" - "Let us glorify him."
✮Christmas is a wonderful holiday of love and hope, which is celebrated with respect in families and all traditions of this day are observed. For all Orthodox, Christmas is the greatest holiday in human history, a holiday in honor of the fact that God himself, the Creator of heaven and earth, the Almighty, incarnated, became man to save people around the world.
✮The most beautiful tradition is carols. Christmas carols begin to be sung on January 7, disguised as nativity scenes and visiting neighboring houses. In different regions of Ukraine they are different, as well as the time for caroling - somewhere it is customary to carol on Christmas Eve, and somewhere on Christmas and even the next day. After all, this is a three-day holiday.
