January 2026: LISER and the Labor Market Department are proud to welcome the IZA Network members at its new home in Luxembourg. I am also happy to work now together with Mark Fallack, the Network coordinator of IZA for over two decades who joined LISER as an employee starting now!

December 2025: I will be giving an invited lecture at the 2026 European Economic Association (EEA) Meetings in Dublin on AI and the Labor Market.  

November 2025: I will organize a flash talk session at the 2026 European Association of Labor Economists Meeting (EALE) in Barcelona on AI.

April 2025: I participated in a workshop on consumption and savings over the life-cycle organized by the University of Iceland at Lake Laugarvatn. 

April 2025: I participated in the European Central Bank conference on AI Transformations with a paper on the labor market effects of AI. 

March 2025: LISER's Policy Lab will be launched with a kickoff event in the Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg City

December 2024: 14th International Conference on Immigration in OECD Countries took place in Paris. 

November 2024: Excellence in Refereeing Award, Journal of the European Economic Association, 2024.

October 2024: The Second Annual Conference of the European Network of Labor Market Institutions (ELMI) took place in Brussels with members of several DGs. 

April 2024: I started my work as a co-editor of Labour Economics.

April 2024: Upcoming keynotes in April/May: the first one at the Workshop on Labor Economics organized by IAAEU at the University of Trier; the second on at the Workshop "Labour Market Demand: Economic and Social Risks" organized by the Horizon Europe Project WeLaR at IBS in Warsaw; and the third one at the "4th Annual Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Finance and Economic History" organized by DIW in Berlin and the final one (for now) at the "Research Day" organized by the Doctoral Training Unit (Graduiertenkolleg) Regional Disparities in Essen.

January 2024: I was invited as an expert for the Sounding Board on the Integration of Ukrainian Refugees ("Integrationsturbo") initiated by the Federal Government of Germany. 

January 2024: I will become a co-editor of Labour Economics starting April 2024.

January 2024: I gave a lecture at the 17th Winter School in Canazei (Val die Fassa) on Inequality about "AI and the Labor Market". Great snow and fantastic skiing is included!

October 2023: The inaugural workshop of the ELMI network on Skills for the Future: Navigating the digital, green and social transition took place. Two intensive days full of new research on the various challenges and their labor market consequences from all over Europe. David Hemous and myself delivered the keynotes. 

October 2023: The Federal Ministry of the Economy and Climate Change has sponsored a sequence of videos and policy pieces on the current issues in the German economy. My contribution on inequality can be found here (in German): https://lnkd.in/e76ffVWK 

September 2023: Talk and Chairing a session of ELMI network members at the EALE (European Association of Labor Economists) Meeting in Prague. 

June 2023: The Labor Market Department of LISER together with the University of Luxembourg organized a conference on "Machine Learning in Policy Evaluation, High-Dimensionality and Visualization" on June 20-21, 2023 featuring Nobel Prize Winner Guido Imbens from Stanford University. 

June 2023: Presentation of our work on Citizenship and Social Integration at the Barcelona Summer Forum in the Workshop on Migration

June 2023: Christina Gathmann got appointed to the Expert Panel for Economic Sciences at the Swiss National Science Foundation (Schweizer Nationalfonds) for a 4-year term.

May 2023: Seminar presentation of our work on the Evolution of Wage Inequality in East Germany at DICE in Düsseldorf.

March 2023: Presentation of our work on Citizenship and Integration at the Carlo Alberto Workshop on Immigration and Integration in Turin, Italy.
