TO BE CALLED FATHER

              A responsibility that requires emotions

                 that are quite remarkable,

              Strong yet gentle,

                 firm yet compassionate,

                    focused yet sensible,

              His is a supreme privilege;

                 no greater honor,

                 To be called Father...

              He must daily learn how to show,

              An example of goodness

                 to help his family grow,

              A marvelous teacher;

                 no greater mentor,

                 To be called Father...

              Like an eagle over his nest hovers,

              He must protect his home

                 from all evil comers,

              Always fighting for what is right;

                 a valiant warrior,

                 To be called Father...

              Always carrying onward

                 no matter how hard the test,

              Persevering and always

                 expecting only the best,

              His greatest challenge

                 to see his children succeed;

                    this reward the highest valor,

                 To be called Father...

              He must be willing to lay down his life;

                 show ultimate love,

              And forgive our sins;

                 to return to God above,

              The greatest sacrifice of all;

                 was by our Savior,

                 Whom we all call Father...
