My name is Christian Hurd, and I am a husband, a father, a Marine, and a tenth-generation Georgian. Except for my time at the University of Georgia and while serving in the United States Marine Corps, I have been proud to call Georgia’s 14th District home for all of my life. I have spent my adult life in service to our nation, and five days ago my family and I announced an exploration of candidacy for the United States Congress as a way to continue that service. Today, I am declaring my intent to file as a Republican for the 2026 special and regular elections for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, and I will do so as an America First Conservative. 

I have witnessed the fracturing of the American family and society throughout my childhood here in Dalton, Georgia. My foremost priority is to rebuild, protect, and defend the American family because it is the foundation for a strong and resilient nation. To meet the affordability crisis plaguing American families and businesses head-on, I will back an unprecedented federal initiative to supercharge the construction of new homes in urban areas, power plants of all types, and our nation’s necessary infrastructure. Further, we must enact a nationwide ban on the purchase of single-family homes by private-equity firms and strictly enforce our immigration laws. Combined, these will increase the housing supply for working Americans, generate vast amounts of affordable energy for American homes and businesses, and ensure that Americans can better reach home ownership, strengthen their communities, and build their families. Placing America First means we conserve what makes us great as a nation, and strong, stable, and growing families are the source of America’s strength. Decades of bad governance and a flawed vision have decreased our competitiveness, stalled innovation, and brought unnecessary pain to American families. We no longer have any choice but to aim big to ensure our nation’s stability and future success, and now is the time for the Republican Party to act decisively for America. 

As a Marine who has served within the intelligence community and is fluent in the languages of Iran and Afghanistan, I have extensive training in Middle Eastern issues as well as operational experience in the Indo-Pacific region. I have witnessed firsthand the erosion of our national power in the face of an existential Chinese threat and the consequences of weak leadership. While I am committed to enabling the United States to do whatever is necessary to bury our enemies and win the new Cold War with Communist China, some in Congress have failed to understand America’s critical role in this world and the dangers we face. The Congress must ban foreign ownership of American farmland and other properties adjacent to our military bases and sensitive sites, in addition to accelerating the return of supply chains for critical national security manufacturing and their components back to the United States. I will ensure our military has what it needs to defeat evolving and advanced threats because America First means we must never allow our enemies to catch us unprepared. America can never allow a Chinese-dominated world, and if our leaders are complacent, that’s what we’re going to get. American foreign policy must serve the interests of the American people, and I will fight to ensure our national strategy is based upon American superiority on the battlefield and unchallenged safety and security on the homefront. 

I have been greatly inspired by the President and Vice President as they take the hard stand to stabilize the American nation and restore our power and reputation abroad, and I believe this is an opportunity to assist their mission with my vision for American renewal inside the United States Congress. I am interested only in the hard, disciplined work our nation needs to defeat our enemies and rebuild our nation at home, and I will work tirelessly to prepare America for the difficult days ahead. I will be a reliable partner to the White House and would be honored to work alongside them as I fight for the America First Agenda at every step of the way. 

As my lifetime of service has shown, I will never bring a shred of scandal or distraction to the Republican majority in Congress. I believe in American exceptionalism and will defend it with honor, principle, and courage until my dying breath. In the coming days and weeks, I will share my deeply held beliefs and convictions regarding the direction of our country and will do so in an accessible and open environment where each citizen can directly participate. I have never been more optimistic for the future of our nation than I am now, and it is with the utmost respect and commitment that I ask for your guidance, prayers, and support as my family and I begin this journey together.
