Christian Badertscher


I am a cryptographer and lecturer with focus on distributed ledger technologies and I am based in Zurich, Switzerland. I am currently the Director of Research Strategy and Planning at Input Output (IOG), and a lecturer at the School of Engineering of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW)

Prior to that, I held a position as a research associate at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where I was also a member of the Blockchain Technology Lab directed by Prof. Aggelos Kiayias. In 2018 I completed my PhD in the Cryptography and Information Security Research Group at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, under the supervision of Prof. Ueli Maurer.  I hold a bachelor's and master's degree in computer science from ETH Zurich.

About my Work

I conduct research in cryptography with a focus on provable security in the areas of secure communication, outsourced storage, blockchain technologies, and general multi-party protocols.
