You-il (Chris) Park is an Associate Professor of Accounting and the Accuity LLP Accounting Faculty Fellow at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he serves as the Co-Chair of the Hawaii Accounting Research Conference (HARC) and Hawaii Accounting Research Doctoral Institute (HARDI). He is also the Accounting Ph.D. program coordinator.
Professor Park is a recognized educator, honored with the Presidential Citation for Meritorious Teaching for 2025, the Global MBA Professor of the Semester award in Fall 2024, and the BBA Professor of the Semester for a Major Core Course award in both Spring 2023 and Fall 2022.
His research examines the intersection of accounting standards, regulations, corporate governance, and market microstructure, with a focus on how these factors shape financial reporting, capital markets, and managerial decision-making. His work has been published in top-tier academic journals, including The Accounting Review and Contemporary Accounting Research.
Before joining the Shidler College of Business in 2019, he taught core accounting courses at Duke University’s Department of Economics and Nanyang Technological University’s Nanyang Business School.
Professor Park holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Accounting) from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, a Master of Arts in Economics from Duke University’s Department of Economics, and a Bachelor of Science in Management, with the Highest Honor and an Accounting Certificate, from the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).
Prior to academia, he worked as an internal auditor at Georgia Power & Southern Company in the business controls and compliance division. He also served as a lead computer programmer in the Republic of Korea Air Force, where he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
