Christopher Jaramillo intends to develop an Educational Equity policy that
dismantles institutional barriers that perpetuate inequitable outcomes
promotes access and opportunities that benefit every student
Christopher Jaramillo believes that our community has a wealth of social and cultural capital. That capital is crucial in helping move our district forward and should be included during every step of the way. Part of his inclusionary vision involves establishing a Latinx Advisory Council led by researchers and analysts from the Center for Culture, Arts, Technology, and Education (C-CATE). The purpose of the Advisory Council is to advise school board members of issues impacting the Latinx community in the Norristown Area School District and provide policy solutions, through participatory research methods. This group provides similar policy solutions to the University of Pennsylvania and Congresswoman Madeleine Dean.
Christopher will also initiate Cross-Cultural Conversations. These conversations will occur in collaboration with C-CATE and the Movement for Black and Brown Lives of Montgomery County and will be conducting monthly Cross-Cultural Conversations in Spanish and English, held virtually, to provide a space for NASD community members to voice issues that are impacting them and decide upon solutions.
Christopher Jaramillo believes that in order to prepare our young scholars for the global economy the curriculum utilized by Norristown Area School District should be revisited and adopted to match the diversity that exists in today's age while providing the rigor necessary to challenge our youth and provide them with opportunities to excel.
