My initial approach began with a comprehensive study of the existing legacy app to map its current functionality. This was followed by a deep dive into user feedback and interviews to identify pain points, which established the groundwork for a truly user-centered design. Users repeatedly mentioned the need for an iOS version and proof of delivery images.

Taking our research as a starting point, we rapidly iterated on wireframes and functional prototypes for beta testers to gather early feedback. We settled on Flutter for the framework, allowing us to address the pressing need for a dual solution for iOS and Android users, and reach the market as quickly as possible.

Starting two weeks after the MVP went live, we conducted a second round of revisions informed by collected System Usability Scale surveys, and moderated usability tests focused on Time on Task and Drop-Off Rates. The data led to improved UX through surfacing key actions from dropdown menus and instead adding them as prominent action icons on the main screens. We moved the Complete action to the bottom of the screen, to serve as the primary CTA on screens.

Post-production revisions focused on surfacing key actions previously buried in menus. Improvements included a dedicated Actions section with icons, a prominent CTA button at the bottom of the interface, a Driver Notes banner on the Deliveries screen, and optimized layouts for tablets. These changes directly addressed quantified user pain points by centralizing the delivery workflow and notes onto a single screen.

The next update focused on providing users with a Dark Theme to reduce eye strain in low-light conditions. In subsequent updates we, added an order summary on the Delivery Confirmation screen, an Offline Mode to store undelivered APIs should users lose signal, and an improved landscape layout for tablets and oversized phones.
