Privacy Policy for Chorezilla
Last updated: 12/3/2025
Chorezilla (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a family chore and reward app designed to help parents organize chores and make them fun for kids. We care about your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
By using Chorezilla, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
We only collect information needed to make the app work for your family.
1.1 Account Information (Parents)
When you sign in as a parent, we may collect:
Your email address (e.g., via Google Sign-In or similar auth provider)
Your display name
A family ID that links your account to your family in the app
This information is stored securely in our backend (for example, using Firebase Authentication and Firestore).
1.2 Family & Member Information
To run the chore system, we store:
Family profile (family name or label)
Member profiles for each child/parent:
Display name or nickname
Role (parent / child)
Optional avatar icon (emoji or similar)
XP, coin balance, level, and rewards state (for game mechanics)
Parents control what names are entered for children.
1.3 Chores, Assignments & Activity
We store information related to chores and how they are used, including:
Chore titles, descriptions, icons, difficulty, and recurrence
Which members are assigned to which chores
Assignment status (e.g., assigned, pending review, completed, rejected)
Timestamps (due dates, completion times, etc.)
This data is used only to power features inside the app (dashboards, history, rewards, etc.).
1.4 Photos and Proof of Completion
If a child (or parent on their behalf) attaches a photo as proof of completing a chore:
The photo is uploaded to cloud storage (for example, Firebase Storage)
A link to that photo is stored with the assignment
Photos are used only to let parents review and approve chores. We do not use these images for advertising or any automated analysis.
1.5 Device & Notification Data
To send push notifications (for example, when a child submits a chore for review), we may collect:
Device push notification tokens (e.g., FCM tokens) tied to parent member records
These tokens are used only to send app-related notifications (like “Chore ready for review”). We do not sell or share these tokens with advertisers.
We may also collect basic technical information automatically, such as:
Device type and operating system
App version
Crash logs and basic usage diagnostics
This is used to keep the app stable and improve performance.
We use the information we collect to:
Create and manage your family’s chore and reward data
Show kids their assigned chores and progress
Allow parents to assign chores, review submissions, and approve or reject
Award coins, XP, levels, and rewards based on activity
Send push notifications to parents about submitted chores or other important updates
Maintain and improve the app’s reliability and performance
Protect against abuse, bugs, and misuse of the service
We do not sell your personal data.
Depending on where you live, we may rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
Performance of a contract – to provide the app and features you request
Consent – for things like push notifications, where you choose to enable them
Legitimate interests – to maintain, secure, and improve the app
We may share data with:
Service Providers that help us run the app (for example: Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, crash reporting). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments.
Law enforcement or authorities if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of users.
We do not share your data with third-party advertisers or data brokers.
We keep your data as long as your family account is active and needed to provide the service.
If you would like to delete your account and associated data, you can contact us at adamsaustin104@gmail.com and request deletion. We will take reasonable steps to remove family data, member data, and related records (subject to any legal obligations to retain certain information).
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, including:
Using reputable cloud platforms with built-in security features
Limiting access to production data
Restricting operations to authenticated users
However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Chorezilla is designed to be used by parents and their families.
Parents create and manage the family and child profiles.
Children do not create accounts independently.
Child data (names, avatars, chore activity, optional photos) is controlled by the parent.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information directly to us without parental involvement, please contact us at adamsaustin104@gmail.com, and we will investigate and remove the information if appropriate.
Depending on where you live, your data may be processed and stored on servers located in other countries (for example, the United States). By using the app, you understand that your information may be transferred and processed outside of your home country.
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, such as:
Access to the data we hold about you
Request corrections (for example, updating names)
Request deletion of your account and data
Withdraw consent for certain processing, such as notifications
To exercise these rights, you can contact us at adamsaustin104@gmail.com.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and may provide additional notice within the app.
