Perovskite Solar Cells

Perovskite Solar Cells have advanced rapidly as a result of the materials excellent light absorption, charge-carrier mobilities, high crystallinity, and lifetimes, resulting in high device efficiencies with significant opportunities to realize a low-cost solar cell technology. Our group study fundamental properties of hybrid perovskite semiconductors for a broader class of energy applications that span traditional optoelectronic systems.

Novel Semiconductors

For realizing high-performance, high functionality, and power saving of next generation semiconductor integrated circuit, we are exploring novel semiconductor materials and device structures. We are also developing the process technology for electronic and optoelectronic device applications. Based on our systematic research of crystalline and electronic properties of various thin films and nano-structures, we are striving for the establishment of materials science and process technology for nanoelectronics on the concept of fundamental physics.

Materials for Photonics

Photonics plays a major role in all aspects of human endeavour. Not only does it allow addressing fundamental scientific questions but it also enables to perform key functions in fields ranging from information technology to biomedical sciences via industrial process monitoring and life entertainment. We are developing novel photonic materials and further study photophysics for lasing applications and light emitting diodes (LEDs).

Organic Solar Cells

Recent advances in device efficiencies of organic solar cells have propelled organic-based semiconductor materials out of the realm of strictly fundamental research at the university level and into the industrial laboratory setting. Some key advantages for organic solar cells are that organic small-molecule and polymer materials are inherently inexpensive; they can have very high optical absorption coefficients that permit the use of films with thicknesses of only several hundred nanometers; and they are compatible with plastic substrates. We synthesize the materials, fabricate devices, and characterize the efficiencies of organic solar cells.
