Moving Prevention Forward

Moving Prevention Forward was a participatory needs assessment that Dr. Rieger designed and led with the wonderful Dr. Nicole Allen and Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault. We conducted interviews, listening sessions, surveys, and an in-person systems thinking/mapping symposium with health service leaders across Illinois. Then, we conducted memberchecking/feedback sessions and dissemiated findings via a written report and webinar. Moving Prevention Forward generated a set of priorities for the primary prevention of sexual violence in Illinois.

Community engagement in ecological prevention planning

Dr. Rieger was the lead evaluator of community engagement efforts at a dual-agency anti-sexual and domestic violence nonprofit in Illinois. Dr. Rieger worked closely with the amazing prevention employees Heather Steele and Melissa Engel to collaboratively design and evaluate community engagement efforts in a public housing community. This project generated reports, recommendations, and further opportunities for local funding.

Rural school adaptations for trauma-informed care

Dr. Rieger worked with the fabulous Dr. Joe Cohen to study sociocultral influences in what rural school principals view as feasible and accessible in trauma-informed care, particularly for youth survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
