SAVE Foundational Lab
Brief
SAVE develops a framework to integrate, understand, and explore the implications of how human beings Symbolically Acknowledge the Vibrancy Experienced (SAVE).
In the overall framing of CHOICE, SAVE explores how humans interact, to achieve impact resilience, founded in underlying agreements fields. Impact Resilience and Agreements Fields are the other two CHOICE Foundational Labs. SAVE lies at their intersection.
One major form with which human beings acknowledge and facilitate interactions is with money. Money has a very long history, developed over and over again, in every culture, in very different ways. The exploration and explanation of what these money systems are, what they do, and how they evolve is addressed in every major school of thought, from moral philosophy, cultural anthropology and economics to political science and sociology, as well as many specialty schools within each of these major schools, such as economic sociology and social economics. Leaders in each of these schools of thought, in the distant past and today, both (1) highlight the great insights from their own school, and (2) how the other schools clearly have missed these important contributions. Many great insights, deeply exploring "money," with very little overlap and often very contradictory findings.
If these major schools of thought each come up with substantially different, often contradictory, findings for what money is and does, are most of them wrong? This is what many of them suggest. SAVE explores another possibility. Maybe they are all right, highlighting different dimensions of money systems, describing how humans acknowledge, through symbols like money, the vibrancy they experience in their interactions. Maybe each of these schools of scholars and reflective practitioners has seen into particular dimensions of the mysteries of human interactions. The task now, which CHOICE's SAVE Foundational Lab takes up, is to develop a framework that highlights and integrates the specific dimensions from each school into one model.
With this integrated model of SAVE, we can celebrate the insights from each school of thought. We can also field test these insights in two specific ways: finding innovative initiatives and designing our own field experiments. First, we can identify initiatives that are innovating how humans interact, based on abundance-based agreements fields, and leading to much higher impact resilience. An integrated framework, pulling together the many dimensions of human interactions highlighted in each of these schools of thought, allows us to see more clearly what is being learned in the evolving practical application of these innovative SAVE systems. Second, we can design our own initiatives, through field experiments, based on a more integrated understanding of the basic dimensions of human interactions and how humans might more abundantly acknowledge through symbols the vibrancy they experience.
