Price guide
A good cake is not cheap; a cheap cake is not good
I specialise in personalised cakes, therefore, most of the cakes I make are unique. As they are all different, giving an exact price before knowing exactly what you want is impossible. Below is a rough guide to give you an idea of the cost of your cake. The prices below are based on a triple-layer vanilla or chocolate cake (4 inch tall) and include the fondant-covered cake filled with buttercream and/or jam, a message and the box. Prices are calculated on the cost of the ingredients, extras (like the cake drum box and board etc) plus the time involved in the process (shopping, mixing, baking, decorating). More costly ingredients (i.e. fruit cakes) and more complex decorations will increase the price of the cake. I’m sure you can appreciate that figurines, flowers, intricate decorations and carvings take much longer to make. Square cakes are more expensive than round ones as they use more ingredients and icing. The price of tiered cakes can be roughly calculated by adding the cost of the cakes which will go together to make the tiered cake.
Below there is a Cake Cutting Guide which I thought might be helpful if you’re wondering how to get 26 servings out of an 8” round sponge!
