Tressa Lyssy was born and raised in San Marcos, TX. Her love for dance began at a young age. She began dancing at the age of 5 at Betty Jack's School of Dance where she spent ten years studying ballet, tap, jazz and point. Mrs. Lyssy had her first experience with competitive dance in middle school where she was a member of the Dancin' Stars dance team at Goodnight Jr. High, serving as Co-Captain her 8th grade year and continued her love of dance team in high school during her freshman and sophomore years. In her last two years of high school she studied dance at Brooke Lowden's School of Dance and was a member of the award winning Elite dance team.
Mrs. Lyssy attended Blinn College in Brenham, TX for two years and was a member of the Treasures dance team, serving as Captain her sophomore year. After Blinn, she transferred to Texas State University where she graduated magna cum laude, receiving her BFA with a major in Dance Education and a minor in Communications. During her time at Texas State she worked at SHOCK Dance Center where she taught and choreographed ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap, and hip hop. Mrs. Lyssy worked with the competitive dance teams for three years and choreographed several award winning team, duet and solo routines.
Before coming to Church Hill Middle School in 2015, Mrs. Lyssy served as the High School and Jr. High dance teacher at Somerset ISD along with running the Somerset Silver Dancers dance team for two years.
Mrs. Lyssy, her husband Steven, and their daughters Georgia & Lillian love living in New Braunfels, TX. Mrs. Lyssy truly enjoys teaching all of the kids at Church Hill Middle School.
