I added Alt text on every image, and included images with every piece of text that required it.
What does this mean and why is it important?
Alt text is a word description for an image. Imbedded into each picture I included a detailed portrayal of what was going on. This is very important for those with low vision/blindness. Adding images that represent different assistive technology is a good addition for those with diverse learning needs. (i.e visual learners.) It may be easier to understand what is being written.
I increased font size on written text and only used high contrast colours. (eg. Black against white, white against black, or purple against white.)
This is also very important for those with low vision. Some have difficulty reading words that are not highly contrasted or large in size.
I created a transcript for each video on my UDL page.
This is an important feature for those that cannot hear. There is voice recordings over the videos that would not be accessible to the deaf or hard of hearing without a transcript.
I Created a YouTube video that included audio descriptions.
I added a detailed description of my Canva Sensory Poster and described what it meant. This is an important feature for those with low vision/ blindness.
I added numbers and extra words to make it easier for screen reader listeners to understand.
For example, instead of "Low Tech" as a heading I used "low tech images" or "High tech links" so they would know significance of each section. I also added numbers for each heading/ new section.
