The sound design for Lily was a collaborative effort between Turner Lynch, Ben Oliver, and myself. Turner primarily focused on dialogue and sound effects, while I concentrated on atmosphere and sound effects. We worked together to refine the overall sound mix through EQ and panning. Voice recordings were captured using a Neumann U87 microphone.
As the sound designer for "Old Ghost Dog," I collaborated closely with the animation team to craft a sonic world that enhanced the visual narrative. My role encompassed sound creation, implementation, mixing, and mastering. Additionally, I provided input on musical composition to ensure a cohesive audio-visual experience.
This animated short employed a unique blend of traditional and experimental sound design. By replacing dialogue with a brass ensemble for the farmer and a theremin for the alien, a distinctive sonic world was created. The contrast between these instruments effectively conveyed character and emotion. Additionally, comedic elements were enhanced through the use of classic sound design techniques reminiscent of cartoons like Tom and Jerry, adding depth and humor to the narrative.
As a university assessment, I created the sound design for "Colour Thief." This project involved both sound design and audio recordings.
