Inspired by a look-alike of my hometown of Downey's old McDonald's, creating this piece in a simple, warm style gave a comforting feeling of nostalgia.

Slow Summer Day
This piece illustrates a moment personally captured at the San Diego Zoo. With a warm breeze from sunrise to sunset, I was able to watch the lions, along with many other incredible creatures, enjoy a slow summer day. With the photo showing the lions beginning to wake, I found it a fun challenge to digitally encapsulate the relaxed essence of the day.

Being one of my earlier pieces, I challenged myself to capturing the complexity of the fish, when I view it as such a simple creature. Picturing it in a fishbowl, the water and sand have a far less complex look, aiming to keep the attention on the fish..
