I am a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the Economics Group at the University of Liverpool Management School. My research focuses on housing policy, urban economics, and applied econometrics. I am the co-developer of the Housing Pressure Index (HPI), a policy tool designed to support evidence-based assessments of housing need across the UK. I have contributed to several impactful policy research projects for both central and local governments, including work on housing need assessments, infrastructure levies, and developer contributions.
In 2024/25, I was awarded a £48,167 Research England Policy Support Fund grant as Principal Investigator for the project Supporting Housing Policy Development through Evidence-Based Tools and Strategic Collaboration.
I completed my PhD in Economics at the University of Southampton in March 2018, specialising in time series modelling and estimation with applications in macroeconomics and financial markets. Following my PhD, I was awarded the ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (of £70,039) for the project Long Memory and Nonlinearity in Macroeconomic and Financial Time Series. I also held a Research Associate post at the Centre for Risk Research at Southampton Business School, where I contributed to a project examining option-implied volatility in the context of asset allocation.
From October 2019 to August 2021, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in housing economics at the University of Liverpool’s Department of Planning. My research during this period explored the determinants of housing need in the UK, the long-run relationship between house prices and air quality, and the role of land value capture in promoting sustainable urban development.
I joined the Economics Group at the University of Liverpool in September 2021 as a Lecturer. I continue to collaborate closely with the Department of Geography & Planning and am an affiliated researcher at the Planning Research Institute, where I have led policy-focused projects for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
