Each one I go on, I learn more about the job which helps me treat officers! Which is ultimately the goal 🙌🏼 Learned a lot about 5150 this time

Got to see the officers search a stolen vehicle and a search/investigation of another vehicle because there were mail and credit cards that weren't the driver's- needless to say I learned so much about credit card and mail theft. Learned that with Google Maps if you type in “Google maps gang areas” it shows you the gang affiliated regions in your area- super interesting. Also, learned how to run a search for an out-of-state license on the MDT system 😎

First graveyard ride along 🔵 🚓
I met some awesome @manhattanbchpd officers and got to see some great police work. An officer on duty came up and asked me for advice about his back pain, and I spent 4+ hours with one of my favorite police officers- I’d say it was a great night!

Got to go on my 2nd ride along with El Segundo PD 🚔 Always an amazing experience to learn what Officers do on a daily, to see the amount of stress each call can cause, and the amount of gear that they have to wear on their bodies. Today consisted of a lot of traffic stops, talking to a transient who was causing a disturbance at a restaurant, seeing how firefighters and police officers handle calls together, and even going code 3(legit was so stressed). However, by the end I was taking off my seatbelt before the car was even stopped 🤣🤣 Always thankful for these experiences, I was asked a few times if I wanted to be a Police Officer #absolutelynot. But I do want to treat their back pain though🔥

🔵My initial thought was I felt I couldn’t breathe and thought I was hyperventilating. My ribs were unable to expand to breathe.
🔵Felt stiff in my mid back and felt pressure on my upper back/upper traps.
🔵When bending forward I can feel my low back doing all the work (with the duty belt and the low back taking all the load for the body to move, no wonder low back pain is so common with LEOs).
🔵I felt like I couldn’t see what was below me like the vest was in the way.
🔵Having something tight on my body felt so constricting and I couldn’t move freely.
🔵Also, female LEOs with a bigger chest. How the heck do wear this? Not comfy by any means.
Can’t imagine having to add a 20+lb duty belt as well 🤯 love taking opportunities like this to see what LEOs go through on duty with their equipment. Just having that vest on, no duty belt, not all the other necessities like a firearm. And I was already uncomfortable and wanted it to come off🤣how you all do it for 12+ hour shifts is beyond me.
Do any of you feel this too?? Do you get used to it? DM or comment me your response! I’d love to get your feedback.

Red Flags When Experiencing Back Pain
I treated a patient who was a Sheriff for 20+ years. He thought he had athlete's foot for a year since he experienced a strange sensation in his feet and had been applying athlete's foot cream for months, but it didn't help. Later on, he suffered a back injury on the job and went to the doctor where he underwent an MRI. The MRI revealed that his L5/S1 nerves were compressed, causing neuropathy, which explains the numbness and tingling sensation in his feet. He realized too late that what he thought was the athlete's foot was caused by his low back. Unfortunately, he was medically retired due to this complaint. He wishes someone at his Agency knew about the body to point out that his foot problem may be related to his back so he could have sought help sooner and had a longer career.
Here are some symptoms to be on the lookout for:
ORANGE Flags regarding neck or low back pain
Numbness
Tingling
Radicular pain (pain that travels into the upper or lower extremities)
RED Flags regarding neck or low back pain
Numbness/tingling in the groin
Incontinence or retention issues
Rapid progressive of symptoms
History of cancer
Unexpected weight gain or loss
Unrelenting pain
Night sweats
Weakness
Night time pain
If you are experiencing any symptoms in the RED FLAG category or if your ORANGE flag symptoms are worsening, seek medical assistance ASAP.
Suppose you're experiencing any symptoms that fall under the ORANGE FLAG category. In that case, I strongly recommend seeking help from a Chiropractor, Acupuncturist, massage therapist, Physical Therapist, Primary Care Physician, Orthopedic doctor, or any healthcare provider you're comfortable with to help reduce your pain or discomfort. Your body is your job so taking care of it is so important.

In 48 hours in Kern County, I treated a few Swat guys, shot a rifle and *attempted* their drills, did my 1st ride along, and got to sit in on @tacmobility training for the deputies.
Seeing how treatment on-site was so invaluable to the SWAT Deputies was a dream come true. In between their drills, they popped into the academy room to get treated. The amount of low back pain and neck pain flareups I encountered from the deputies just doing an hour of their drills honestly was so eye-opening. This further showed me that having an easily accessible Chiropractor on-site is so crucial for their wellness and
What a freaking dream. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to learn more about this profession that I have such a passion for helping.

Did you know that Police Officers are classified as athletes? Police Officers are considered Tactical Athletes due to the rigorous training, mental toughness, and survival-based skills required for their duties.
The pillars of being a well-adapted athlete are:
1. Endurance & Speed
2. Power & Strength
3. Mobility & Flexibility
4. Muscular Stamina
As a Tactical Athlete, success requires more than just the four fundamental pillars of athleticism. Mental toughness, creative thinking, and analytical skills are also crucial. Most impressive is how all of these skills must be performed while carrying 30+ lbs of Patrol gear/equipment.
