The gaming community is facing massive changes and disruptions as generative AI technologies are increasingly used in almost all aspects of creative work involved in game design, development, analytics, and even games research. This new trend is significantly shifting the trajectory of the gaming community by affecting how digital games can be designed, produced, experienced, and studied. 

Given generative AI’s fast-evolving, multidimensional impact on diverse stakeholders in gaming, in this workshop, we consider creative workers in gaming broadly, including but not limited to: game researchers, game designers and developers (professional, indie, or hobbyist), game makers beyond the industry (e.g., in education or game jams), game writers, animators, voice actors, artists, composers, and so forth. We thus invite these creative workers (e.g., game researchers, practitioners, and various stakeholders) in the gaming community from different domains and with different roles/perspectives to build a community interested in taking a proactive and pioneering approach to collectively reflect on and envision generative AI’s evolving role in shaping the future of creative work in gaming. 

We invite interested participants to submit a position statement and a bio (each up to 200 words) with this form by Monday, September 21, 2026. In the position statement, participants should describe why they want to attend this workshop and how their background/experience/research is relevant to the workshop topic. Submissions are *NOT* anonymized. Please include the name of the author(s) on the submission.

The workshop will be organized as a half-day, hybrid event at CHI PLAY 2026 in York, UK, most likely on the afternoon of Monday, November 2, 2026. There are no additional registration fees for attending this workshop if you have registered to attend CHI PLAY 2026. Or you can register for the workshop only (no main conference), which costs £25.
