Reading Class Resources

Reading Class:

Please make sure to practice sight words each night as well as recognizing letters and sounds. It is also important for your child to be practicing their writing daily. Start with their names and then begin working on correctly forming each letter! Most importantly in a year where so much learning will take place it is important to make sure you are reading with your child each night even if only for a few minutes. By the end of the year hopefully your child will take over and be reading books to you!

Sight Words:

1st Quarter Sight Words (Color Words): red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, black, white, brown

We teach the color words with color songs. You can find these songs on YouTube. Below is a video for the color word for red:

2nd Quarter Sight Words (Number Words)

3rd Quarter and 4th Quarter Sight Words are listed on the back of your child's newsletter each week. I also have sent home check lists for the first 3 sight word lists....please let me know if you need another check list.

Check out the Video below to get your child up and moving while learning their ABC's. Another great source on YouTube for students is StoryBots. We will watch StoryBots for each letter the students learn.
