About Me

A Renaissance Soul

I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, and hold a BA in English Language and Literature, along with an MA in Linguistics. My teaching journey began as an English teacher in diverse locations such as Taiwan, China, Nepal, and the U.S. My experience encompasses ESL instruction at Onondaga Community College, teaching Citizenship classes to refugees at Interfaith Works for two years, and instructing Mandarin Chinese in the San Diego School District. Currently, I teach Chinese at all levels at Manlius Pebble Hill School. My keen interest in the biases associated with native speaker-led language instruction prompted me to conduct a survey focusing on heuristic biases towards native speaker instructors. This journey reflects my commitment to fostering inclusive language education and cross-cultural understanding.

My Family

I'm a parent of two wonderful children, a nearly 10-year-old son, and a 6-year-old daughter. My husband is a political science professor, and together, we've embarked on adventures around the globe, both through road trips and international travels. We firmly believe that truely understanding of the world comes from experiencing it firsthand. Our passion for nature and the environment has led us to become avid environmentalists who actively acknowledge the realities of global warming and champion sustainability. Our home is a place of linguistic diversity, where we speak three languages: English, Chinese, and Bulgarian. In our moments at home, when we're not jetting off somewhere, we relish the company of our dog Tomo, often taking him for hikes and swims in the nearby lake.
