ChimpanZ Privacy Policy

ChimpanZ is a virtual reality game for Meta Quest headsets. This policy explains what information the game collects, why it is collected, who it is shared with, and what control you have over it.
The person responsible for this information (the "data controller") is Cheese, trading as CheeseDevStudios, United States of America.

1. What ChimpanZ collects
Device identifier. A unique ID provided by your Quest headset. This is the key to your ChimpanZ account. Without it we cannot recognise you between sessions or keep your progress.
Meta integrity token. A signed token from Meta confirming the game has not been tampered with. It is used for anti-cheat: the token is sent to our server, checked with Meta, and discarded afterwards.
Display name. The username you choose in game, so other players can see who you are.
Game progress. Your Z-Chips balance, the cosmetics and hammers you own, and which items you have equipped. We store this so your unlocks and purchases are still there next time you play.
Purchase records. Which Z-Chip packs you bought and the purchase ID Meta returns. We keep these to credit your purchase and to support refunds and disputes.
Moderation status. Whether an account is banned, and the reason, so we can enforce our rules.
Player reports. When you report someone using the in-game report menu, we record the reported player's name and account ID, your name and account ID, and the reason you selected.
Voice chat audio. Your microphone, while voice chat is switched on.
Multiplayer state. Your position, movement and actions while you are in a room, so other players can see your character in real time.
About your microphone
Your microphone is used only for live voice chat with other players in the same room, and only while the game is running. Voice audio passes through our networking provider in real time so other players can hear you.
We do not record, store, or listen to your voice.
You can mute your outgoing microphone at any time using the in-game voice controls.
What ChimpanZ does not collect
We do not collect your location, your real name, your email address, your Meta profile photo, your Meta username, or your contacts.
We never see your payment details. Payments are handled entirely by Meta.
2. Who we share information with
We use the service providers listed below. They process this information on our behalf, in order to provide a service to us, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Microsoft Corporation (Azure PlayFab). Handles accounts, game progress, Z-Chips, purchase records, ban status, leaderboards, and anti-cheat verification. Processed in the United States and other locations listed in Microsoft's published documentation.
Exit Games GmbH (Photon). Handles real-time multiplayer networking and live voice chat. Game servers are located in the United States; the company is located in Germany.
Cloudflare, Inc. Runs our authentication service, which verifies anti-cheat results before allowing you to join multiplayer. Processed across Cloudflare's global edge network.
Discord Inc. Player reports submitted through the in-game report menu are delivered to our private moderation channel. Processed in the United States.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for advertising or profiling of any kind.
We may disclose information if we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to investigate cheating, harassment, or threats to the safety of players.
3. How long we keep it
Account information, meaning your device identifier, display name, progress and purchase records, is kept for as long as your account exists.
Player reports are kept for as long as we need them to review the report and act on it.
Voice audio and multiplayer position data are not stored at all. They exist only for the moment they are transmitted.
Meta integrity tokens are checked and then discarded, not retained.
4. Your rights, and how to delete your data
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete your account and the information attached to it, or object to how we use it.
To make any of these requests, email ChimpanZSupportTeam@gmail.com and tell us your in-game display name so we can find your account. We will respond within 30 days.
Please note that deleting your account permanently removes your progress, cosmetics and Z-Chips balance, including any Z-Chips you paid for. This cannot be undone, and purchased Z-Chips cannot be restored or refunded once the account is deleted.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
5. Players aged 13 to 17
ChimpanZ is rated for ages 13 and up. It is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
For players aged 13 to 17, we collect only what is described in this policy: the minimum needed to run the game, save progress, and keep multiplayer safe. We do not use their information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child under 13 is using ChimpanZ, or you want your teenager's information deleted, email ChimpanZSupportTeam@gmail.com and we will remove it.
6. Purchases
Z-Chips are a virtual currency used to buy cosmetic items inside ChimpanZ. They are bought through Meta's in-app purchase system.
Meta processes the payment. We receive only confirmation that a purchase succeeded and which item was bought. We never receive your payment details.
Z-Chips have no real-world value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be transferred between accounts. Refund requests are handled by Meta, under Meta's refund policy.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change how ChimpanZ handles your information, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in our Discord community.
