Yes it looks like crap right now.

There's going to be a lot of construction around here over the next few months, so bear with me and it will all be worth it (I hope).

What's Going On Here?

This Web site is dedicated to providing Children of Earth a home on the Internet. The material that appears here has for the most part been previously published, though I plan on adding new material as time permits.

What is Children of Earth?

Children of Earth is a Traveller setting based on the so-called "New Era" milieu, which takes in the Solomani Rim, a region (known as a sector) of space which includes the planet Earth (thus, in part, the name). I created Children of Earth in 1994 with the aim of getting it published by Game Designers' Workshop, the makers of Traveller. Unfortunately, Game Designers' Workshop went belly up before this could take place. Just when it seemed that all was lost, a white knight appeared on the scene in the form of Kevin Knight, the owner of Sword of the Knight Publications, and the publisher of Traveller Chronicle. Traveller Chronicle turned over almost the entirety of its issues #10 and #11 and a portion of issue #12 to a presentation of some of the Children of Earth material I had created.

History of the Solomani Rim In the New Era - The original text of the history of the Solomani Rim from the end of the Solomani era (1130) to the present day (1202).

Sector Map - A map of the Solomani Rim in the New Era in .gif format.

Subsector Maps - A collection of all 16 subsector maps of the Solomani Rim in .gif format, condensed into a single PKZIP file.

Solomani Rim Subsector Maps and Data - That's right, all 16 subsectors, maps and descriptions for the New Era as published in TTC #10. File is in Word 97 format, and is condensed using PKZIP file. Warning! even in its condensed state, this is a 346K file.

The Vegans, Mod I, Mk I - In the tradition of the release of the Star Wars Special Edition, I present a slightly revised version of the original Vegans essay that appeared in Traveller Chronicle #11. This version also includes the material missing the first time around. The file itself is in .txt format, and has been condensed using PKZIP.

Creating Vegan Characters

Vegans may be generated using the character generation procedures presented in TNE with the following modifications:

Homeworld Effects on Attributes: Because of the Vegans lower gravity origins, the modifiers

discussed in the Homeworld Effects on Attributes section (page 19 of the TNE Manual) do not apply.

Vegan characters should use the following:

If Gravity 0.5G or less: no effect

If Gravity greater than 0.75G, but less than 0.9G: add 1 to Strength attribute and subtract 1 from Constitution

Vegans cannot survive without special life support equipment on worlds with Gravity 0.9G or greater.

Vegans must chose one of the worlds mentioned in the Vegans section as their homeworld.

Psionics: Vegans always have a potential PSI rating of zero, though they are subject to psionic

manipulation in a similar manner as humans.

Skills: All Vegans undergo the Irrishtyoshun for their first term. To simulate the skills gained during the Irrishtyoshun,

Vegans characters receive an additional eight levels of skill (but no more than two in any one skill) from the

Background Skills List. Skills not on this list can also be chosen, with the referee's approval. Note that Vegans on

Fallen Worlds may or may not undergo the Irrishtyoshun, in which case they are generated normally.

Aging: Vegans age at a rate much slower than humans (approximately half as fast). Therefore, use the Vegan

Consolidated Effects of Age table below in place of the one presented on p. 32 of the TNE manual:

Page 33: The title for the Cobra gauss pistol refers to it as the P-35 "Cobra" 5.5mm Gauss Pistol. The title should read P-35 "Cobra" 5.3mm Gauss Pistol.

Page 33-34: All references to the "G-2A2 gauss battle rifle" or "G-2A2" should read "G-1A2 Battle Rifle" or "G-1A2".
